Oregon’s Climate is Changing
We are a non-partisan team of economic researchers and practitioners who are working to understand how our changing climate will impact the economic reality of Oregonians.
Our work
Our first report details several ways in which Oregon’s changing climate will impose new costs on Oregon’s households, businesses, and local governments. We also provide a primer for understanding the ways economists think about risks and extreme events.
Our second release provides an overview of climate adaptation planning in Oregon and a partial tally of big ticket items. We also review “polluter pays” approaches for financing and provide a stylized analysis of how a surcharge on greenhouse gas emissions could pay for major adaptation costs.
Climate change is expected to increase the frequency and severity of flooding in Oregon, intensifying the financial risks for uninsured property owners. This report details the status of flood insurance in Oregon and documents a decline in level of coverage throughout the state.
Who we are
We are a team of academic and non-academic economists around the state who have decades of experience working to understand the interplay between our environment and our economy.
